Latest Happenings [Feb. 3rd, 2008|04:16 pm]
Mike
Damn, its been a while since I've posted anything of substance on here. Here's what has been going on with me.

Work: Things have been going ok lately. I've actually managed to hire someone to handle the collections for the 2 accounts that I manage. Her skills aren't entirely where I'd like them, but in time, she'll learn them. But she is definitely a drastic improvement over the last one that my manager hired for me. At least this time, I had some say so in who was hired to work for me.
A few weeks ago, I was told that I was being too "social" in the office, in that, talking with some of the AR reps is affecting their job performance. I explained that as a Supervisor, I thought one of my responsibilities was helping the AR reps if they have questions. I was told that if they are not on my team, I'm supposed to direct them to their supervisor. I'm the type of supervisor that if someone comes to me with a question, I stop what I am doing and help them out. The other supervisor in the department tells her team that they need to schedule a time with her to meet and discuss their questions.
I let the conversation bother me for a few days and then shrugged it off and continued what I had been doing. I'm sure I'll hear about it again.

Home: Things are good at the Lauer/Saylor household. Taxes are completed which is a good thing. Home Depot is replacing our front door that they screwed up. It only took a year to get that mess resolved.
My parents are doing well. Mom is now officially retired, so I expect them to make more visits to Texas. My father, after some encouraging from my older sister, has been going to the gym a few times a week trying to lose weight. Mom started going to, with some friends of hers.
Bill hasnt been traveling as much as he used to. His company has cut his travel schedule significantly. Two years ago, he was traveling 90% of the time, now he is down to 12 trips a year, which works out to 2 trips to each of his districts. He is a little frustrated, as its hard to manage a team of trainers if you can only visit with them twice a year.
Thing with me are going good. Work has been cutting into a good bit of what used to be personal time, but I'm adjusting. I'm still managing to get to the gym a few times a week and have been trying to eat better.

Hope all is well with everyone else. Hugs
