Why would this make me happy? Because pay day was last Friday, which means this is my annual bonus! Even though it isnt much, its extra money to spend. I was going to throw it into bills, but Dad said that I should use this and buy myself something.

Right now, I am leaning towards a laptop since my desktop computer at home is old and I cant run more than 2 programs at one time with out it slowing down to a snail's pace. So here's the question: Where can I get a decent laptop for a reasonable price? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

As much as I hate dealing with them, Fry's. David was told he "needed" his own laptop for a job in ATL. He went to Fry's looking and got their no-name 1.5MHz Pentium-M with 512MB, 40GB disk and CD-RW/DVD for $900 + tax. The equivalent IBM ThinkPad runs about $1500.

Thanks. I've had my own issues with Fry's over the years, but I may have to check them out for this.

In the FtW paper today, they're advertising their inhouse brand "Great Quality" 1.8GHz Celeron 128MB 30GB for $500. Chances are they won't have any in stock. Besides, the Celeron is somewhat of a dog performance wise.

Last week, they ran the 1.5GHz Pentium-M 512MB 40GB for $800 - expect to pay that or a bit more. Go for the Pentium-M processor instead of the Celeron and try to get at least 512MB of memory.
