Tres de Mayo [May. 3rd, 2005|12:23 pm]
Mike
Yesterday was a rough day at the office. I guess "long" would be a better word for it, since I started at 6am and left at 6:45pm. I did sneak away for a hour to go to lunch with Dad, since he took the day off.
I got home around 7:30pm (damn traffic) and planted my butt on the sofa with a cigar in one hand and a cocktail in the other. Chatted on line a bit with daltxfurry, ours_garou, Michael who now happens to be the technician at the vet we take Sparky to, and Brandon who is in Dallas visiting from AZ this week.
Watched "24" and "Medium" and then crashed for the night. Woke up this morning with my entire right side in pain. I thought that maybe I had slept on it wrong, but the more I think about it, I think the pain was related to the dream I was having last night.

If you have not seen Starship Troopers, then you will not know what I am talking about. I was a soldier with the Federation sent to battle the Bugs. I enter a warehouse, see a Bug, and proceed to kill it. All of a sudden, I am back at the door and the scene repeats itself, but each time the Bug is getting smarter. Everytime I kill it, the dream starts over again. Almost the reverse effect of a video game where you have to kill something to move to the next level. It was almost like the bug had to kill me so that he could move on. Anyways, in my dream, I was falling down stairs, tripping over things, falling down trying to get away from the Bug. It was just an odd dream. Anyways, when I woke up, my entire right side was aching.

Today, work isnt going much better. Especially when I try to pull reports and I only find 4 pages of information rather than the 115 pages I normally receive. Seems our vendor for the new reservation system decided to do an upgrade Sunday night/Monday morning. The upgrade deleted some files that were necessary to track transactions in the audit table. So the last record in the system is at 12:41AM Monday morning. Now I.T. is trying to figure out a way to extract the necessary information from the res system, but the vendor will not give them full access to the data. Now it becomes a power struggle.
All I can say is I am so glad that this is the beginning of the month and not the last week of the month, or I'd be pulling out what little hair I have left on my head.

On the plus side, I am outta here at 3pm today. No matter what is going on
