Lack of Sleep [Sep. 27th, 2005|08:27 am]
Mike
I wanted to call in sick to work today, but forced myself out of bed at 5am anyways. No, I'm not sick. I dont think that I slept more than 2 hours last night and I was in bed by 10pm.
The cause of my restless night of sleep - a mattress and boxsprings. No, not my bed. At about 11pm last night, some one decided that it would be funny to slam a mattress against my front door and put the box springs up against my living room window. As soon as I turned on the outside light, the truck sped off. As stupid as this may sound, my nerves were on edge for the next few hours. My over-analytical mind was processing different scenarios over and over again.
I decided that it was best that I wait until this morning to move the mattress and boxsprings away from the door and take them to the curb to be picked up on garbage day. I had the strangest feeling that if I would have gone outside last night to move them, that I would be jumped from behind or someone would sneak in the house while I was moving things to the street.
So after talking to Bill on the phone and making sure all the doors/windows were locked, I headed to bed. But after that, the least amount of noise had me sitting up in bed. Finally the alarm went off at 5am and now I'm here at the office working on a few things, wishing I was back in bed.

I've been thinking about it this morning. A Chinese family (or families-there are 5 vehicles parked in their driveway) from Louisiana is renting a house 2 down from us. I wonder if the mattress/boxsprings was meant for them as an anonymous gift.

Good point. What condition were they in?

they looked to be in half decent shape. no rips or tears in either.

i placed a call to my neighbor. He is going to walk over and see if the mattress/boxsprings is something that the family could use. If not, it'll be curbside when the bulk garbage truck comes by later tonight.
