First Day on the Job [May. 30th, 2006|07:08 pm]
Well, the first day went pretty well. Although when I left today, I still do not have a working telephone at my desk, no computer, and no security badge to get in and out of the building.
My manager, Terry, took my around to meet everyone when I got there this morning. I'm bad at remembering names, so I'm sure it'll take me a while to remember who they are and what they do. I spent most of the day with Regina, who is responsible for handling the Accounts Receivable for the client that I have been assigned to analyst his reports. It looks like I'll be shadowing her for the next 30 days learning what I can about those accounts.
All in all, it was a pretty good day. I was a little miffed that the management team didnt take me out to lunch so that I could meet everyone, but every company has its culture. At Wyndham CRO, we made it a point to take all new management team members out to lunch on their first day so that they could interact with the team outside of a work environment.

I do know that I HATE where I am currently sitting. I am in a cube, closest to the inside walkway. Across from the walkway is the Senior VP that wasnt 100% on board with hiring me in the first place.
Also, the girl sitting in the cube beside me is one of those women who constantly applies hand lotion. I cant stand the smell of it.

Everyone seems to be friendly though, so I think I'm going to like it there

Huzzah for employment!

That sucks they didn't take you out for dinner...maybe be grateful, maybe if they did you BECOME dinner!

One of those companies.

thats true, I probably could have become dinner for a few of them. considering the Senior VP of the department wasnt exactly onboard with the company choosing me. I'm sure he is watching my back closely. (especially since I sit outside his office)

all in all, it was a pretty good week. Employment is a good thing
