Here is my favorite picture from the trip:
I'm still working on resizing other pics and uploading them to a flickr account.
Home - Siding is done. Still fighting with Home Depot regarding the door. We've been in the house 3.5 years now and we are still finding things that the previous owners did themselves rather than higher a professional. This week's finds:
Hot water heater -- (we had to replace it this week due to a leak in it)
1. It wasnt up to code. Even by 1996 standards when it was installed. Cost to get everything up to current code was $1000 on top of the cost of new water heater
2. A valve was installed backwards that allowed a small amount of gas to leak.
3. The ventalation wasnt completely hooked up and instead of forcing the carbon monoxide to the outside, it was being circulated through out the house.
Air Conditioning Unit -- unit kept freezing up this past week
1. The AC tech noticed that a valve that was installed wasnt a factory issued part. In fact, it was too big for the unit. The previous owners had someone weld all the tubing together around the valve. Cost of repair - approx. $600
In other news:
Dad has to fly out to Denver to teach a class in July. We decided to make a mini-vacation out of the deal, so we are flying out a few days early and spending the weekend in Breckenridge/Frisco area. Plans are to go hiking and white water rafting.
I've been trying to figure out a way that I could do Delta and Inferno this year. Unfortunately, my company's policy is that I cannot request time off more than 30 days in advance, so basically that means I cant request time off til August 1. I told Dad to go ahead and send in his registration for Inferno last week. I want him to go and have a good time even if I cant go. Inferno usually fills up quick, so I'm sure by August 1, I wont be able to get in.
The issue with Delta is that it falls over month end closing, which they are very restrictive on who gets the time off.
Oh well, we shall see what happens. Time to grab a shower and head to Fair Park to see "Spamalot".
