|LA Trip Recap

The trip to LA was a great time. I arrived on Friday at noon and hung out at the airport til Dad finished with his training class at 2. (side note to Sprint - your service at LAX sucks. Thank you). Dad picked me up and we headed to our hotel in Santa Monica. After checking in and dropping off our stuff, we headed to Malibu where we hung out on the beach for a bit. We then made the mistake of attempting to drive to the Pantages Theatre to pick up our tickets for Saturday's performance of WICKED. Three hours later, we made it there. We ended up grabbing some Thai food and heading back to the hotel for the night.|
Saturday, we went to the Getty Museum and spent most of the day there. I enjoyed most of it, except I did learn that I strongly dislike French Decorative Art. Maybe if the rooms were set up differently, it could have been interesting, but my first impression was. "oh, this is tacky".
Saturday night we went to see WICKED. It was my third time seeing it and the LA show was better than the 2 touring shows that I've seen here in Dallas. After the show, Douglas gave us a backstage tour, which was quite interesting.
Sunday, we had plans to see the Getty Villa, but we didnt make reservations ahead of time. So we decided to hit Long Beach and Huntington Beach for the day. On the way to Long Beach, I called the Getty Villa and was able to get us reservations for Monday morning.
Sunday night, we ate at a Japanese restaurant in Santa Monica, then walked along the Pier for a bit.
Monday morning, we went to the Getty Villa and spent a few hours there. I love it as I have a thing for Greek/Roman architechure and sculptures.
Monday night we went to dinner at The Magic Castle, where we met a few other LA men. There were 12 of us for dinner and the food/conversation/shows were fantastic. It was great seeing Alan again as its been almost 4 years since I've seen him.
All in all it was a great trip. We hit quite a few places and there were a number of places that we didn't get to. We thought about heading to the bars, but they weren't high on the priority list for us. Plus, at the end of the day, we were both exhausted from the things that we did that particular day.
I can't wait to go back there sometime. Hopefully it won't be 6 years between visits like it has been.
