Friday after work, I stopped at the grocery store and picked up a few things to make a pot of chili for the weekend. After a trip to Hollywood Video, I got home, threw the chili fixings in the pot, set the temperature to medium and did a few chores around the house. Dad called around 4 to say that his flight was going to be delayed a bit due to mechanical problems, so I had more time to kill til he got home (i.e. started laundry)|
Dad called back around 5 to say that he was finally boarding his plane and that he should be in around 7pm. I decided to take Sparky with me when I went to pick Dad up from the airport. We picked Dad up and headed home to eat chili and watch the 3 of the 4 movies that I picked up.
--Skeleton Key -- ok, but too predictable. Not a suspense thriller like the ads made it out to be
--Stealth -- I said when I originally say the previews to this, that the only reason to watch it was for the special effects and not expect an actual story plot. I wasn't wrong.
--Christmas with the Kranks -- ok, but whoever kidnapped Jamie Lee Curtis and replaced her, can we have her back?
--Charlie and the Chocolate Factory -- Probably the most disappointed I have been in a movie in a long time. Since I missed it when it was playing at the theaters, I had myself hyped for the DVD release. I am glad that I watched it before I bought it. It had its funny moments, but I'll take the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory any day.
Saturday, Dad and I both had sinus headaches for some reason. We decided to stay inside and caught up on shows that we had recorded on the DVR and watched the last movie that I had picked up.
Sunday, I took Dad out for lunch and then dropped him off at the airport for his flight to Omaha. Spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning up a bit and getting things ready for my next attempt at making soup. Booked a room at the Anatole for Dad and I for Friday and Saturday night. I am attempting to call in some favors from some people I know who work there and see if we can get upgraded to a suite, instead of the standard room that they normally give people when the employee rate is booked.
Watched Desperate Housewives and part of the shipwreck that was called the Poseiden Adventure. After about 10 minutes of it, I switched to ESPN and watched World Series of Poker
Work is still the same. Slow. Tomorrow, I'm packing my gym clothes and head to Ballys in Lewisville for a workout. No sense sitting here at work and getting fatter, when I can use some PTO to get back into shape. Now if I can just find my membership card.
