Puppy Boot Camp [Jun. 3rd, 2004|01:47 pm]
Tonight Dad and I get to head to Man's Best Friend and pick up Sparky after his 2 week stint at Boot Camp. The manager at MBF just looked at me when I referred to it as Puppy Boot Camp and said that its not boot camp but a learning experience for the dog. For $1000, I'll call it what I want to.

I've been in contact with his trainer Greg over the two weeks. He said that Sparky is learning his commands well, which is good since across the alley from the house is a disc golf course. It would be nice to take him out and play a round or two and not have to drag him along on a leash.

Other than that, not much else planned for the night. Last night, we hit up our favorite Thai restaurant Thai-rrific. I had the Pad Kee Mow and Dad had a combo of Gai Gra Pow and Moo Gratiem. Both were da bomb last night. Thai-rrific is family owned and operated. The daughters act as the waitresses while Mom and the brother work in the kitchen. Service can be slow at times, but the food definitely makes you forget all about the wait.

The storms we had last night werent as bad as the night before. Just alot more rain. The new drain we installed works fine, but cant handle that much water at one time. Heck, even the sewer drains on the street couldnt handle the water that quick. Alot of the water came over the curb and into our yard. Dad and I are looking at options now so that we can try to stop the front yard from flooding every time it rains. We've tried contacting the city to have them look at the street grading to try to alleviate the water that comes from the street, but its not on one of their priority lists. To protect the house from the water, Dad and I are going to build flower beds in front of the house and divert the water to the drains. But with the amount of rain we got last night, it will just build up in the yard anyways. I've always wanted to be an engineer.. guess this is my chance to devise a plan and see if I am really cut out for that type of work.

I tried to take some pics of the weather last night, but the pics didnt come out as good as I thought they would :-(
oh well, they are calling for more storms this weekend.
I was thinking last night that Michael, a friend of mine in Monterey, CA, would just love this weather we've been having in Texas lately. I need to find his email address and phone number so I can give him a shout.

as soon as I figure out how to post pictures on LJ, I'll post pics.

He is a redish/cream colored Akita/Samoyed mix.
